About myself |
Hi, Thanks for reading my profile. I'm a deputy head teacher of a primary school in Cornwall. I work mainly with the children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. I also do some Literacy consultancy work for the LA. Divorced ater 30 years of marriage (phew!)I am looking forward to experiencing new things, meeting new people, seeing new places.... life is for the living!Music: I love most music (with the exception of heavy rock) which makes using shuffle on my i-pod really interesting! Playing on it as I write this is 'Laid' by James but the next track could be Coldplay, Pulp, Beethoven or Rod Stewart amongst many other things!TV: I wouldn't stay in just to watch anything but I do like Spooks, My Family, Costume Dramas and Strictly Come Dancing ( sorry!)If I wasn't working I would sit and watch Fern and Phil every morning because I think they are hilarious together.Books: I love books full stop! One of my favourite places is Hay-on-Wye and another is Waterstones! I spend my days trying to foster a love of books and the joy of reading in children and I'm never without a couple of my own choice on the go... I love re-reading classics such as Austin and modern or classic poetry. The books by my bedside at the moment are 'Born on a Blue Day: inside the extraordinary mind of an autistic savant' by Daniel Tammet and 'The Man I was Promised' Poems by Ann Grey. Oh, and don't forget 'The Mousehole Cat'....a superb children's book.Sports: I enjoy watching all sports except football. Rugby is my favourite, closely followed by cricket (which, I am frequently told, makes me weird!) I used to play netball to county level and enjoyed badminton but nowadays I just watch! Being born and bred in Cornwall, I love the sea and so swimming and body boarding come high on my list of enjoyable activities. I'd like to learn to do some sailing and wind surfing too....I think! I don't want to learn to snow ski though because I'm scared of heights and couldn't cope with those scary little ski lifts!Interests: My main interest is writing. I have had an educational book published and several educational articles. One day in the future I will write a novel (you know, the one that's inside everyone!)but at present I content myself with writing poetry and belong to several writing circles.Movies: I enjoy going to the cinema but get bored watching films at home! I like all the 'girly' ones such as things with Richard Gere or Hugh Grant in. Green Card, Much Ado About Nothing, Sister Act, Shrek and Ice Age rate highly for me. I'm not keen on action movies although did like the Die Hard ones. Not keen on Sci Fi.Dreams: My dreams are all about experiencing new things, visit new places, take on new challenges, have fun and enjoy doing all these things with the special people, new and old, in my life.
